Global: Triangle...Square...Pentagon?
China, the USA, Russia, South Korea, and North Korea are doing a very intricate dance. The USA is shouting at Russia for the 'rigged' elections. Russia is yelling at the USA about Syria. South Korea is yelling..no 'talking' to everyone about having talks with North Korea. China is yelling at South Korea and the USA about the THAAD system. North Korea is screaming at everyone.
What a lovely international family! Scary part is technically everyone except North Korea are technically allies.
China is upset about the THAAD system because they are under the impression that this missile defense system will hinder their own defenses.
The USA is upset about the elections because it was supposed rigged but Russian hacking and they fell the people should have had the president they actually voted for. Who is it? We may never know.
South Korea's new president wants to try a new tactic against North Korea, negotiations. Shockingly enough China and Russia seem to be in agreement. The USA not so much. Mind you part of the negotiations is temporary stopping all large scale wars games between South Korea and the USA.
Russia is upset that the USA bombing Syria and knocking down a Syrian plane. Russia is allies with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in this Syrian Civil War.
North Korea is just plain mad. They want nuclear weapons. They want to be seen as a powerful country to be feared and respected by all.
On top of all that China, Russia, South Korea, and the USA are all 'technically' against North Korea's nuclear weapons program. Each trying to find a way to convince or force the regime to disarm themselves.
If that wasn't enough North Korea launched a successful intercontinental missile with the capabilities of reaching the USA's main land, Alaska and possibly the west coast. Needless to say this new missile as raised the stakes considerably for all parties involved.
North Korea has stated that its new ICBM, Hwasong-14, reached an altitude of 1,741 miles (2,802 km), flew 580 miles and for almost 40 minutes.
Moon continued to stand in the position of talks with North Korea but Trump as stated that he as no patience for the regime.
CNN states that Trump has three possible options in dealing with North Korea.
1. Bomb the launch pads when North Koea sets up a missile.
2. Pressure China to squeeze North Korea economically.
3. Negotiations, US gives something, North Korea gives something.
Number 2 has already been done and more pressure against China has started by the US government. Number 3 the US is against and North Korea vows no negotiations. Number 1 could potential start a war.
Now, it seems time for these powerful countries to put aside their difference and try figure out a way to reduce North Korea's nuclear development. Is Trump being too stubborn by no considering negotiation that the other three countries are suggesting? Is China really helping the situation or hindering it by not following the sanctions through? What is Russia's real input in the situation? Can South Korea's new present find a way to convince the US and North Korea to the talking tables?
Only time will tell.
